Plain-English summary of what EditWithChat does with your data.
Your videos stay on your Mac
EditWithChat has no server that receives your footage. Importing, cutting, transcription, captions, B-roll, rendering and exporting all run on your Mac.
What goes to Claude
The editor is powered by Claude, through your own Claude Code login or your own Anthropic API key. To make editing decisions, Claude receives your chat messages, the transcript of your footage and the still frames it chooses to look at. That traffic goes directly from your Mac to Anthropic under your own account and is governed by Anthropic’s terms and privacy policy. EditWithChat never sees it.
What EditWithChat sends over the network
- License activation — once, when you activate or deactivate: your license key and a name for this Mac, sent to our payment provider, Dodo Payments.
- Tool downloads — only when you click Install in Studio Setup, from an approved list of sources (GitHub, nodejs.org, PyPI, npm, Hugging Face). Every file is checksum-verified.
- Update checks — only if you turn them on in Settings.
No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking. Crash reports are never sent unless you opt in.
This website
This site uses DataBull, a lightweight analytics script, to count page views and see which sites send us visitors. It doesn’t see anything inside the app or your videos — the app itself has no analytics. Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments, whose privacy policy applies at checkout.
